When I get hit with something unpleasant in life and feel as if things are falling apart and out of control, one of the ways I choose to get back in feeling like I am in control is to control what I eat, how much I eat, and how much I exercise. I'm aware that it is pathological, but when my weight starts to drop gradually as a result of me controlling what goes in my mouth, I feel better. I stop this eventually because I'm not crazy. I usually end up dropping about 10 pounds over the course of 6-8 weeks or so, and gain back the pounds in about 4-6 weeks as I recover from whatever the crisis I experienced which caused me to drop the weight in the first place. This process occurred probably 4 times in the last 5 years.
