I don't know about the number of words used, if that was one of the criteria used to support your thesis. But I can say that women use different points of reference when talking with men; and, that can lead to having the need to use more words.
Most men, myself being one such dude, usually have difficulties in understanding some of those points. Understanding those reference points is often the difference between agreement and starting an needless argument.
Most of the women I've known speak articulately, and sadly more eloquently than I am capable of. My nasty-ass attitude usually gets me into deep, deep do-do.
